I love the idea of screwing with offsets like that to make the picture transition in and out of coherency…. wish I knew enough about the hardware to know exactly what’s being done :)
It reminds me of my tree! But that was by accident, caused by a dodgy PNG flate algorithm. (I do not really know what a PNG flate algorithm is)
I’m guessing that kind of algorithm balloons a picture (deciding how deflated or inflated it appears).
Close enough, it’s the compression - deflate to pack it into a PNG file, inflate it out of the compressed format to display it. Some PNGs are compressed with that, some with… a different algorithm, and I can’t remember the rest.
